About Nakano
If you want a taste of how locals live, it’s worth taking the subway or Chuo Line out to Nakano. This district in western Tokyo flies under the radar for most international travelers, but it’s a haven for geeky ‘otaku’ fans looking to shop through one of Tokyo’s busiest retail hubs. Similar to Akihabara, Nakano Broadway is a top shopping center for manga, anime, and video games.
Traditional shotengai are pedestrianized streets lined with charming shops and street food vendors, and Nakano is home to one of Tokyo’s best. Nakano’s other major retail destination is the open-air Sun Mall shopping street, which is located next to the neighborhood’s train station.
If you're heading to Nakano from the airport, you may want to store luggage to free your hands up for shopping. That's where the Bounce luggage storage service can help - we have handy locations to store luggage in Nakano City and throughout Tokyo.
