Adelaide Fringe 2025

Adelaide will once again become the gathering place for every kind of art imaginable! Don’t miss it—no matter what!

The Adelaide Fringe Festival was first held in 1960 as an alternative to the Adelaide Festival of Arts. From humble beginnings with just 16 shows, it has expanded to become one of the world’s largest arts festivals, second only to the Edinburgh Fringe!

With over a thousand events and countless performers across different disciplines, the Adelaide Fringe is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. It has also been called the world’s largest open-access festival. During the summer season in South Australia, Fringe transforms Adelaide into a vibrant, creative hub with temporary venues (like tents, shipping containers, and even car parks) popping up all over the city, creating a magical atmosphere.

The festival presents everything from circus acts, cabaret, and stand-up comedy to theatre, visual arts, and music, making it appealing to a broad audience with diverse interests.

From February 21 to March 23, you'll get to enjoy this marvelous festival that Fringe brings to the city of Adelaide!

What to Expect When Attending Adelaide Fringe 2025

In addition to the main venues, artists will perform in unexpected places, including streets, buses, and parks. The city's streets will become performance spots, so you may encounter a surprise around every corner!

There are plenty of family-friendly shows, such as children's theater, puppet shows, and interactive performances. Look out for kid-friendly activities such as workshops and hands-on art events!

Many performances at the Adelaide Fringe are designed to engage the audience directly. Whether it’s immersive theater, where you become part of the show, or interactive art installations, there’s a strong focus on participation.

Fringe is collectively putting on more than 1,200 shows from over 6,000 independent artists in 300+ venues across the city!
