Convenient Murano luggage storage

While most visitors fixate on destinations like Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica, there are a few places on the periphery of the Venetian Lagoon well worth the short boat ride. The cluster of islands around Piazza San Marco are the main tourist districts of Venice, but there's another set of islands just north that offer thinner crowds and fascinating sightseeing.

Murano is the slightly smaller and slightly more interesting cousin to central Venice, with a tiny population of about 5,000. It's far enough away from the islands around San Marco that there are no bridges connecting Murano with the other islands or the mainland. This gives it a remote feeling that's impossible to replicate. Still, all the comforts of Venetian culture are on offer. There are more than a few superb trattorias and other types of restaurants showcasing Venetian cuisine, and you'll have an easy time finding a café or bar for an aperitivo hour.

The importance of Murano’s glass-making heritage can’t be overstated, and taking a tour of a factory or the Glass Museum is a great way to learn about this ancient art, and how it shaped the history of Venice. The Basilica of Saints Maria and Donato is another highlight, with a fascinating mythology behind its curious decor. This gorgeous Roman church features an ornate altar beneath the skeletal remains of a dragon (scientific authorities have identified them as whale bones).

If you're planning on heading to Murano from the airport or are popping over from the main islands for an afternoon, you may want to find a place to store your bags for a few hours while you poke around. Bounce is the most convenient luggage storage option in Venice, and that includes Murano. You'll have an easy time finding a secure storage spot and the drop-off process is effortless.
