As the most populated city in the country, over 8.3 million people live in New York City. It is unique in that it encompasses five boroughs, which include Staten Island, Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. In each of these boroughs is a separate culture and personality. Things to do in Battery Park

While you are in New York, make sure you visit Battery Park, which is considered to be the city’s birthplace park. Where else can you see the Statue of Liberty, a fish-themed carousel, ride the Staten Island Ferry, and play in a fountain with the kids? All of this is in a cozy 25-acre park on the tip of Manhattan Island facing the New York Harbor. There is so much to do and see here, you will need an entire day or more, hands-free, to do it all. Bounce recommends the following places for you to enjoy.

  • Ride the SeaGlass Carousel, the only one of its kind in the world
  • If you enjoy memorials, the park has over two dozen of them honoring inventors, explorers, soldiers, and more
  • See the Statue of Liberty at the Vista Point, where there are benches and unobstructed views of Lady Liberty, Brooklyn, Governor’s Island, and more
  • Check out the Battery Urban Farm to show the kids how important and fun it is to plant your own gardens
  • Take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry, a huge vessel that ferries over 70 thousand passengers a year across the New York Harbor
  • Take a walk through the four-acre green space New Yorkers call the Battery Woodland 
  • Once you work up an appetite, head to the Battery Bosque, where you can find two outdoor cafés with salads, sandwiches, beer, and more
  • Battery Gardens Restaurant is also a great place to eat with a view of the harbor

  • Washington Square: This iconic park-like space boasts an arch, fountains, and even some green space with flowers and other flora.
