FAN Mallorca Shopping

This rather large shopping mall near the Palma international airport is the place to be when you are in need of some major retail therapy. The FAN Mallorca has all of your favorite stores and brands under one roof including H&M, Havaianas, Decathlon, and Calzedonia. The Primark flagship store can be found here. With over 100 shops, you will find exactly what you are looking for.

There are also plenty of delicious cafes and restaurants where you can sit back with a coffee and a snack or dine on a full meal while taking a break from shopping. Enjoy a bite at Che Asador Argentino, an Argentine-style steakhouse or VIPS which is a very popular Spanish restaurant chain. Public buses 23 and 32 run from the city center to the entrance of FAN Mallorca Shopping.

The mall is open Monday through Saturday but is closed on Sundays.

Mallorca Fashion Outlet

Located on the northern end of Palma, the Mallorca Fashion Outlet is a beautifully landscaped outdoor mall inside a leisure complex. People flock to this mall for the deeply discounted high-end brands, and many internationally known including Nike, Levi, Desigual, Lacoste, Pieles de Mallorca, and El Ganso.

The leisure complex has several restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a break from shopping. Spend the day here and catch the latest rom-com or action flick at the 20-screen cinema complex, or drop the kids at the soft play center and head over to the electric karting circuit. 

It is easy to reach the mall by hopping the train at the Intermodal Station in the city center. The mall is open daily and is a popular shopping center.

Porto Pi Centro Comercial

Located within walking distance of the Paseo Marítimo promenade, the Porto Pi Shopping Centre is a wonderful shopping center that is popular with tourists as it is near the cruise ship terminal. This multi-story shopping mall has an assortment of stores including Mango, Zara, Stradivarius, and Bershka.

The mall also has a Carrefour hypermarket which is a special market where you can find everything from make-up, personal care items, specialty foods, and clothing. There is also a cinema where you can kick back and relax after spending a few hours shopping.

The EMT bus 1 and bus 4 stop at the Porto Pi Centro Comercial. The shopping center is open Mondays through Saturdays.

El Corte Inglés

This one-stop shop is a great place to go when you need a new outfit, electronics, and books. It is a large shopping center but it is well laid out making it easy to navigate to the shops you need. El Corte Inglés is not necessarily the place you spend an entire day shopping but where you go to grab what you need and continue with your day.

This is the biggest department store in Spain and there just happen to be two of them in Palma de Mallorca. With nine floors, you will want to refer to a map or ask for directions to the stores you want to visit. The Gourmet Food Hall offers some amazingly tasty Mallorcan delicacies. The department store is open Monday through Saturday.

Markets in Palma de Mallorca

Placa Major

While technically not a market, Placa Major does host local outdoor markets throughout the year. This traditional square is surrounded by restaurants, shops, and cafes. Street entertainers can be found day and night, and are especially prevalent during market days.

When you are on the hunt for handmade, traditional Mallorcan crafts and gifts you will want to take a stroll through Placa Major and check out all the fabulous items offered for sale. Be sure to make your way down Carrer Jaume II, a small alleyway where several artisans have shops. The haberdashery, Merceria Angela, is a great place to find scarves, buttons, fabric, and so much more.

Drop into Paraguas, which has been family-owned for over 100 years, when you are searching for fans or umbrellas. Genuine leather goods and jewelry can be found along Carrer de Sant Miquel. You will be amazed by what the shops in Placa Major have to offer.

Mercat de l’Olivar

Oliver Market is only a few short blocks from the city center and is the biggest food market in Palma de Mallorca. Spend a lazy morning meandering through this upscale fresh market where the selection of fresh foods is very impressive. You will not want to eat before you visit Mercat de l’Olivar, you will find plenty of delicious fresh foods to try.

There are tapas bars and cafes where you can take a load off and have a satisfying snack when you need a break from walking through the market. Stop by Bar Del Peix for oysters, fresh fish, and seafood tapas as well as high-end champagne. Kiana Delicias Mediterraneas is a deli that has amazing gourmet foods. Santa Catalina Market

This iconic market is a staple in Palma where you will have a blast enjoying a true Mallorcan shopping experience. The hustle and bustle of this indoor market will leave your head spinning but in a good way. Being the oldest food market in Palma de Mallorca, the Santa Catalina Market has stalls overflowing with fresh meats, seafood, and produce. You can also find fresh flowers and aromatic spices.

You will find that most of the locals love to come here on Saturdays so they can do their shopping and then sit back and enjoy tapas and drinks at the cafes inside the market. You don’t even have to buy anything for a trip to the Santa Catalina Market to be fun, just being there is exciting. The market is open Monday through Saturday.

Popular Shopping Areas in Palma de Mallorca

Paseo del Borne

Paseo del Borne is a pedestrianized street lined with shops, making it one of the best shopping areas in Palma de Mallorca. It is a pleasant stroll along this boulevard with its old plane trees providing plenty of shade from the relentless sun. The shop windows draw you in and make you want to discover the treasures tucked away inside.

The street stretches from the Turtle Fountain in the Plaza Rei Joan Carles I to the Plaza de la Reina. Several well-known designers have set up shop along the Paseo del Borne such as Hugo Boss, Mulberry, and Louis Vuitton.

Even if you are not a tobacco user, you have to stop by Bagatela, the oldest tobacco shop in Palma. Bagatela was founded in 1890 and moved to Paseo del Borne in the 1960s. Step into Rialto Living, a lifestyle store where you can find everything from books, home accessories, decorative items, and even trendy clothing.

Calle San Miguel

This narrow shopping street begins at the colonnaded Plaza Mayor and ends at Plaza Cort. Stop by the olive tree located in front of the town hall for a photo op. The tree is over 600 years old. There are times when Calle San Miguel becomes a bit too crowded and you will feel the crush of the crowd, but that usually only happens during the summer season.

If you are in search of authentic Mallorcan souvenirs and products this is the shopping area you want to visit. There are several shoe shops that have traditional Mallorcan brands and a few fashion boutiques offering the latest fashion trends such as Farinelli at the corner of Plaza Cort. Take a walk along Calle San Miguel to Mercat de l’Olivar, the biggest fresh market in Palma.

Avenida Jaime III

This is the premier shopping street where international fashion reigns supreme. Lotusse and Cartier have set up shop on Avenida Jaime III. Handcrafted leather goods and artisan jewelry can also be found in some of the smaller shops along the boulevard such as Opia Concept. Trends Home is the top furniture dealer in Palma.

El Corte Inglés, a huge department store located on Avenida Jaime III, is perfect for immersing yourself in some serious retail therapy. Avenida de Alexandre Roselló is another large shopping center where you can find pretty much anything you want or need.

Calle Quint

The hotspot for Palma’s up-and-comers is Calle Quint. This shopping district is often referred to as the Street with stupid stairs and you will understand as soon as you set foot on Calle Quint. You need to be somewhat fit to spend any amount of time shopping here with its various levels and wonky stairs where no staircase is the same in width or number of steps.

When climbing stairs in Calle Quint make sure you watch carefully so you do not end up taking a tumble. Moderate prices on stylish clothes bring the younger crowds. Boutiques including Pasatiempos, Zapping, and Quintos dos Q2 cater to the younger generations. Be patient as you move through this shopping district, everyone tends to move slower due to the uneven stairs and pavement along the shops.
