The event flourished during the Baroque period, as Seville’s wealth created more elaborate religious imagery, including intricately designed statues known as pasos.

Semana Santa features over 100 processions, lasting up to 12 hours each and spanning nearly 70,000 participants, including penitents, musicians, and float-bearers!

It's celebrated the week leading to Easter, from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, so the dates change each year.
