St James Court Art Show 2024

Do you fancy arts and crafts? If so, historic Old Louisville is preparing something extraordinary - an outdoor event called the St James Court Art Show! 

St James Court Art Show has a vibrant history. St James Court Association president Malcolm Bird founded this event on October 12, 1957, to prevent the Old Louisville neighborhood's economic collapse and preserve its historic Victorian architecture.

This art show includes exhibitors from around the US. The number of artists participating in the show grew as the years passed, and so did the number of attendees. The above-mentioned Malcolm Bird was the president of the show until 1967, and by that year, attendance had reached 40,000, with over 200 exhibitors. 

2024 marks the 68th annual St James Court Art Show, which will gather over 600 artists! The show is typically held on the first weekend in October. This year, make a note of the dates: October 4-6. 

The art show will take place in Old Louisville, among the country's largest collection of Victorian homes, in six sections: St. James Court, Belgravia Court, Fourth Street, Third Street, 1300 Section, and West End Baptist Church.

What to Expect When Attending St James Court Art Show 2024

Numerous booths will be at various locations offering such items as jewelry, furniture, pottery, photography, and paintings. Some booths, like the ones on St. James Court, Belgravia Court, and Magnolia Avenue, will present expensive items. Magnolia Avenue is a very picturesque part of Louisville, and you can enjoy its nature during your visit. On the other hand, booths on Third and Fourth Streets will offer you less expensive items.

Many volunteers will be present on-site. For a list of artists and food vendors, feel free to reach out to them or pick a St James Court Art Show Guide at the Welcome Tents. You’ll find them at St James Court & Magnolia Ave., Fourth & Magnolia Ave., Third & Magnolia Ave., St James Court & Hill St.

These food and beverage vendors will be serving many different kinds of tasty meals and drinks!

Expect typical autumn weather with mild days and cooler evenings. Consider bringing an umbrella because the event will go on, rain or shine!

As mentioned, the St James Court Art Show is in Old Louisville, south of Central Park. All streets around the venue will be closed during this event.

If you decide to use public transport, buses run frequently and are an excellent option. Take the #2, #4, or #29 buses, which will drop you off near Old Louisville.
